Common Password Reset Problems
Below are some solutions to some common issues that you may experience when resetting your password. This is the most common error that most users will see. This means that you have most likely not met the password requirements. Please go to the previous page, and make sure that the password meets all the below requirements. Does not contain any part of your username (first or last name). Has at least 10 characters Has at least 1 number and 1 symbol that is not % & or + Has at least 1 upper and 1 lower case letter This is another common error that you may see. This means that you are using a full word in your password. In order to get past this error, you will have to either replace the word so that it does not form a word or words, or you can replace one of the characters with a symbol or a number (i.e. Juds0n instead of Judson or 3agles instead of Eagles). This means that the password is one that is already compromised. You will have to choose a different password.

Password Reset Instructions for Faculty and Staff with Judson Laptops
For those Faculty and Staff who have a Judson owned laptop, there are some specific steps that we recommend that you take instead of using the password reset site. If you do not own a Judson laptop, please follow the instructions here: https://helpdesk.judsonu.edu/support/solutions/articles/44518 NOTE: For anyone who has a Judson Mac that they are not a local admin on, please follow the instructions at the bottom. If you are a local admin on your Mac, please follow the normal reset instructions by going to the password reset site instead of these instructions. NOTE: This Password Reset should only be done when on campus and connected to ethernet. If you receive a message stating your password has expired and are off campus, please contact IST so we can assist with resetting it without causing any sync issues. WINDOWS Password Reset Instructions You will want to start by making sure your laptop is plugged into an ethernet cable or connected to a dock that has ethernet. This can be confirmed by making sure that in the bottom right hand corner you see a symbol that looks like this: If you are seeing a symbol that looks like this: that means you are only connected to Wi-Fi. If you only see the Wi-Fi symbol, and cannot fix it, please reach out to IST either via ticket at ithelp@judsonu.edu, in person on the 2nd floor of University Center, or via phone at 847-628-5040. Once that is the case press ctrl-alt-delete at the same time which will bring up the image below where you will press change password. This will bring up the screen below where you will put in your username, current password, and then put in the new password in the last two boxes. (You may see your username and password already populate, and if so, it is ok to skip those boxes). Please also make sure that you are following the password requirements located below the picture as well. Please note that if you do not follow those, you will receive an error stating that it does not meet the length, complexity, or history requirements as shown below. Does not contain your name Has at least 1 upper and 1 lower case letter Has at least 1 number and 1 symbol Has at least 10 characters Is not one of the last 3 passwords used. Once you receive the message below, you will know that you have successfully updated your password. The last step will be to restart your computer to ensure that any stored or cached credentials are removed, and then updated to the various systems that are being accessed (i.e. Judson.managed network, follow-me printing, etc.). This will change the password for all of the below sites. MyJudson Computer Login Email (after 30 minutes) Library Bookstore All J1 sites (Web, desktop, JFA, etc.) You may also notice that your computer has a windows logon reminder that says something similar to the information below. This is valid, but you will follow these same steps still to complete the reset. MAC Password Reset Instructions: For the Mac, you will not be able to reset your password in the lock screen like you can above on a Windows machine. Start by connecting your Mac to an ethernet connection on the Judson campus.(NOTE: If you are off campus, or do not have an ethernet adapter to start, please reach out to IST prior to completing the password reset as you will have issues with syncing). Log into your Mac, if not done already, and go to https://password.judsonu.edu. Put in your current username and password and hit login. Continue past the phone number (leaving it say "None"), and go to the bottom where it will have a box for new password. Input the new password you would want to have, making sure that it meets the requirements below: Has at least 1 upper and 1 lower case letter. Has at least 1 number and 1 symbol. Does not contain your name. Once you get the confirmation page, you will want to restart your Mac, and then log back into it using the new password. It may also ask you if you wanted to update your keychain password. If you save your passwords to your Mac, then you will want to hit update and it may ask for the previous password so that it can update it to the new one. Once you complete those steps, you should be able to use your new password everywhere you need to. As always, if there are any issues with completing any of these steps or any questions about anything, please reach out to IST either via phone, ticket, or in person. We are located on the 2nd floor of the University Center, via email at ithelp@judsonu.edu, or via phone at 847-628-5040.

Setting Up 2FA For O365
Once 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) has been turned on in Office 365, you will need to start by going to https://www.office.com in an internet browser of your choice on a non-mobile device. All of the screenshots below are from a computer and not a mobile device. After logging into your Office account, it will ask for you for more information to set up the 2-Factor Authentication (2FA). See picture below. If you do not want to use the Authenticator app, click on "I want to set up a different method" button. To follow using the Authenticator App, follow the directions listed under Mobile App Setup. Once you click on "I want to set up a different method", pick the method to use (for texting use Phone, and for just calling use Office Phone). There are two main methods for authentication. The Mobile App is the preferred method for ease of use: The Mobile app will send you a prompt to approve the login. Skip to Mobile App Method Setup section. The "Authentication Phone" will send you a text with a code or will call you to authenticate. Proceed to the Phone section. Mobile App Method Setup Download and install the Microsoft Authenticator App from the App Store for IOS, or Google Play Store for Android, on to your mobile device. Choose "Receive notifications for verification" and click "Set up" A window will pop up that looks like this above. On the Authenticator App choose the + to Add Account Choose Work or School Account on the App Choose Scan QR code on the App Scan the QR code on your computer screen. Now click on the Next button on your computer screen. You will then be prompted on the App to approve. You will then be prompted to put in a name for your App Password. This is very rarely used, so we just recommend putting in your name, or something that is not a password as shown below. It will then provide you with an App Password. This is rarely used and can be skipped by hitting done. Once you click done, the setup is complete, and you will then get an approval request from the app when you log in on an unregistered device going forward or a password change. If you have issues working with you email account on your mobile device, please delete your email account and re-add it. We suggest using the Outlook App for your Judson Email instead of the mobile device's default email app. Phone/Office Phone Setup Enter your personal phone number (cell number is preferred) and choose whether you want a text with a code or a phone call with a code. Office 365 will then either call you or text you to confirm. Once this is done, it will prompt you to put in additional security verification and will create a temporary app password (Pictured below), IMPORTANT: either take a picture or write down the app password provided on your screen. This is used to sign-in to Office 365 on your mobile device apps. Note: If you forget to capture the app password or lose it, you will have to reinstall the mobile app. Once you click done, the setup is complete, and you will then get either a text or a phone call when you log in on an unregistered device going forward or a password change. If you have issues working with you email account on your mobile device, please delete your email account and re-add it. We suggest using the Outlook App for your Judson Email instead of the mobile device's default email app.
